adding description field in Report

Posted on by 210

I am trying to add a description field into the General Transaction Edit List Report for the General Ledger.

In the transaction Entry Form I need to add the second description "Manual Checks" to the report but I dont know which field to select when I am in report writer.

I have attached a print screen of the Transaction Entry form:  [View:https://community.dynamics.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-UserFiles/00-00-06-17-78-Attached+Files/2500.Add-Field-Description-1.pdf]

If you cant view it:  If you click the double arrow a second description field pops up. - That is the one I want to include in the Report.  Does anyone know what field that is called?

Currently the report is set up to print Description 1 and Description 2 but only one description is printing.  So I am assuming its the wrong field.

Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi guys,

I can see the .pdf and you are correct about it being the Distribution Reference field that Ann Marie is referring to.

    Hi Ann Marie,

I can't view the pdf above. However perhaps you are talking about the Distribution Reference field on the GL Journal entry lines. If so, this field is called DCSRIPTN (shown as 'Description' in report writer) and is held on table GL10001 - 'Transaction Amounts Work' in report writer.

Other fields available on this table are ORTRXDESC - OriginalTrnsaction Description - if the GL Journal originated as a sub module transactions (say an RM transaction) - this field stores the description entered on that transation.

The other 'free type' fields on a GL journal include the 'Reference' field - this is called 'Reference' and is stored in table GL10000 - 'Transaction Work'.

    Hope this helps.

    Ian.
