Un-Apply Payables

Posted on by 175

Hello.

One of our clients is asking for Microsoft's reason for not allowing applied Payables to be un-applied.

He would also like to know if there is a workaround other than voiding and redoing.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Ali Mannion

    RE: Un-Apply Payables

    Hi,

I've been asked this before and although I don't know Microsoft's reason I generally say the system doesn't allow you to unapply it because when you raise payments you generally go through some kind of approval process for both the invoice and the payment. Therefore its not good practice to just unpick this manually after the event. Its best to reverse this so the approval and sign off process can begin again.

I don't know of any workaround other than unpicking in SQL which is a huge task if lots of invoices are involved as it will have generally been moved to all the history tables.

I'd be interested to know if there is a 3rd party capable of doing this. (because although I can see the reason for disallowing it, it does crop up from time to time)

    Thanks

    Gavin
