Microsoft Dynamics 365 for OP : Doing a project build in Visual Studio take more than 30 minutes.

Hello,

I have a weird issue in Visual Studio.

I have two projects in a Solution

The 1st one is a Microsoft Dynamics 365 for OP project

The second one is a C# shared Library project here I'm using Linq To AX to do some queries.

When doing a build of the AX project without the reference of the shared library, everything works well.

When doing a build of the AX project with the shared library as reference, the build process can take more than 30 minutes.

Is there a Visual Studio parameter that I'm missing? or something else?

it slows me down a lot, I am forced to remove the dll as a reference and put hard code values to do my tests, otherwise I waste a lot of time.

Thanks in advance for the help.

What package is your AX project in? Is it your own or one of the standard packages like App Suite?

I'm speculating that maybe your C# library triggers a FULL build of the package its referencing, which could take a long time if it's in app suite. When you do a build from the AX project itself, it's always a partial compile, never full - which is why it doesn't take very long even on app suite projects.

    Hi Joris,

    Thanks for the help.

indeed, I'm using the Application Suite in my dll :

It seems you're right about the dll triggering the full build.
I just make a test by remove the Application suite reference in my shared project library, and after that the build time of the AX project was good.

I think I have to search how to prevent the full build.

For now, I think I will leave a reference without the Application Suite in the AX Project, and copy the good one in the model bin folder.

So the AX project will not do a full build every time.

Thanks a lot for the help.
