Error registering table GL_Account_MSTR after GP 10.0 SP5

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have two terminal server environments.  One on WIN Server 2003 and one on WIN Server 2008 R2.  One is load of GP UK English and one is US English.  Both have a separate Reports.dic.  I ran the new GP 10.0 SP5 and the Reports.dic seemed to upgrade fine on the UK English install but the US Install is giving me the following errors when running some reports more specifically the GL Detail and Summary TB:  "Error registering table GL_Account_MSTR" and when you click "Ok" it says "Table Open Error" and won't print the report.

I researched a number of threads online and have tried the following fixes: 1) Creating a new Reports.dic and exporting the reports and importing them back in which resulted in a few reports coming up with the error of "Key: Unable to set property Table to GL_Account_MSTR".  We need these modified reports so I am hoping to alleviate the error.  I didn't find any other info online that looked ultra pertinent to this issue.  I am getting the same error after posting RM finance charge waiving but that is likely due to the modified reports printing after the posting.

    Ryan,

Try starting the software with 'run as administrator'.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

PS you can delete all of those winspool lines. If you get ahold of the Support Debugging Tool you can keep your .ini file clean.

Hi Ryan, I don't see anything wrong with your dex.ini file. You could delete the winspool entries just to tidy it up a bit, but they are no big issue and certainly shouldn't b the cause of your issues.

Have you tried printing the reports at another machine? Can you successfully launch Utilities at another machine?

Can you post the contents of the dex.ini or PM me and you can then email it.

Yes - that was one of the BCP error fixes that was in the document.  Plus I don't see why the ODBC has anything to do with the error because we have been using this install of GP 10 for about a year with no issues.  I haven't changed ODBC settings since that time.  I still think the dex.ini is possibly referencing a wrong path or has an entry from the one I copied that is not condusive to the one I am having issues with.

    Hi Ryan,

Did you verify your ODBC? SQL Native Client...and no tick boxes ticked on any of the set up windows?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Error registering table GL_Account_MSTR after GP 10.0 SP5

    * Yes I changed Synchronize = TRUE then launched Utilities.

    * I get the BCP message right when I launch Utilities and it doesn't seem to get to the Sync part.

    * I had to turn the Sync = FALSE so I can have users login and do work today.  It won't let them get into GP if I leave it at TRUE.

    * The following is the BCP error:

An error occurred while using the BCP utility - data was no correctly copied to the server.  Please verify your ODBC settings and that BCP has been correctly installed.  GP Utilities will now exit.

    Hi Ryan,

    • Is this what you did? Changed the Synchronise to be TRUE in the dex.ini file, then launched Utilities?
    • Did you get a message that GP was Synchronising...before Utilities atarted its BCP complaining?
    • When do you get the BCP error messages? - on launch of Utilities, or when its synchronising or etc..?
    • Look at the Dex.ini file now - is Synchronise = TRUE or FALSE?
    • Can you now print your reports without getting an error?
    • If Synchronise in Dex.ini is still = TRUE, change it back to FALSE and try launching Utilities - do you still get BCP errors?
    • Can you post some of the BCP errors to give us an idea what is happeneing.

    Leslie...any ideas?

    Leslie and Ian,

Thanks for your help.  I tried synchronizing and now I am getting BCP errors when I try to launch GP Utilities.  I went through a number of the fixes on the BCP KB article but it doesn't seem to be helping.  In general can you explain why you think I am getting the original error?

Re: Re: Re: Error registering table GL_Account_MSTR after GP 10.0 SP5

    Hi all,

Ian is straight on correct. You probably copied the .ini file from a workstation that had already been synchronized. Each workstation needs to go through this process in order to synch up the dictionary with your account format.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
