Would like to find out how to prevent a Sales Type ID from being displayed for selection.

How ridiculous is it not being able to inactivate master data in an accounting system that is sold around the world. It is a FUNDAMENTAL aspect of ANY system.
By unchecking the Override Document Numbers option is not going to help as the number get generated anyway. I did try using Process Hold and it worked. Just thought there might be a cleaner way to make it inactive and disappear off the selection list.

You cannot mark the sales type ID inactive to restrict users from use it. You will need customization to block users from accessing it.
A workaround is you can set the Quote/Order/Invoice ID Next Number in the type Setup window (Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> Sales >> Sales Order Processing >> Sales Document Setup button >> select the Quote/Order/Invoice option) to something like "DO NOT USE" for the type ID you don't want to use. You can also check off the Override Document Numbers in Options section. Therefore, users cannot to change number and use the sales Type ID.
This way if user try to use the inactive Type it, he will see DO NOT USE in the document number and they wont be able to change document number without changing the type ID.
