Hi Mark,
Yes you can import detailed invoices on sales order entry. But how much historical information you wanted to import its all depend on various aspects.
1) Are you importing these invoices to a live company
2) If you import all the invoices which might include open and paid how are you going to deal with that
3) If the invoices are mixed then you need to enter dummy payment in order to make them zero balance
4) After posting the invoice either you need to delete or reverse all financial journal
5) Depending on how many open year you have, you will be able to post the invoice on previous periods.
