Depreciation Calculations for Straight Line Orig Life

Posted on by 18,265

Dear All,

I like to know how Dynamics GP calculating Depreciation; in my senario GP calculating wrong.

We have run depreciation for one month i.e. Jan 31,2011

Assets Place in Service Date : 11/14/2006

Cost : 12683.67

Orginal Life : 05 yrs.

My Yearly Depreciation shows in GP : 2113.96 which should be  (1268367/5=2536.734)

and Current Depreciation : 202.62 which should be  (211.3945)

Why Dynamics GP shows different depreciation amount?

Your earliest reply is highly appreciable.

Thanks
Sandip

    Sandip,

Yearly Depreciation 2113.96 is only for 2011, 5 year depreciation, 11/14/2011 is the last day for depreciation, 2011 is not the whole year for depreciation, so the Yearly Depreciation won't be $2536.734. The following is the calculation for 2011 Yearly Depreciation.

Cost Basis                    $12,683.67   $211.39 Per Month

    LTD Depreciation (51 months) 10,781.11

    YTD Depreciation (1 month) $211.39

    2011(Cost Basis - LTD Depreciation + YTD Depreciation) $2,113.96

For question  why Current Depreciation is 202.62 which should be  (211.3945), maybe the following menu is useful for you to find some reason.

    Rubal,

Appreciate your prompt reply; I used "None" Average convention. I don't know why I am getting wrong result.

    Thanks

    Hi Sandip,

Which averaging convention you are using? I just tested with ‘None’ averaging convention and yearly rate is exactly equal to the expected value (1268367/5=2536.734)
