Same Lot number with many QOHs on Stock Status

Why does GP store Qtys of an item in the same lot number multiple times in the system rather than once? Also, can I change this with at setup setting? Here is what I mean. Let’s say I have a qty of 100 widgets with a lot number of 12345 and transfer 25 of them to another site in Inventory. Then I transfer them back to the original site, they don’t add back to the existing lot record to give me a total of 100, but rather keep the qty’s separate. So two lots both with number 12345 have 75 and 25 as a Qty on Hand showing on the Stock Status Report. If I sell 80 of these on one order, I have to select two lots that are both the same number (12345) to fulfill the order. We have several items that we have transferred back and forth in sites and now find it hard to get a qty on hand for one Lot number by looking at the Stock status report since it list so many.

    Not a functional issue, just wanted to make it easier for the user to see we have enough of an item in one Lot.  Sometimes, the whole order needs to come from one Lot and not multiple lots. (multiple, many different number lots)

    Daryle,

    An SSRS report that groups by serial/lot number might be a better option than the Stock Status report, for serial/lot tracked items. But there isn't an easy way to get around the second issue of having to pick from two lots with identical lot numbers, when transacting quantities greater than either has available.

    I wouldn't recommend trying to fix this with SQL or adjusting out the whole lot and adjusting it back in, just for the sake of neatness. Is there a functional issue with multiple lots with the same lot number?

    Inventory >> Inquiry >> Lots

    There is an button to view by lot number.  That will show the total for each lot (example qty 100)
