Our data clearance project is ongoing, 10 years of Distribution history removed from the main database now and we have seen good improvements in response times. We are considering the Archive product from PA for use in the future but right now we have a backup of the last 10 years outside our Live File.
One problem I am getting is a GP System crash when deleting Purchase Transactions.
What we have been doing is going from 01/07/00 (our start year) and moving forward 6 months at a time i.e. 01/07/00 to 31/12/00 and then 01/07/00 to 30/06/01. This works quite well in capturing data and reducing the time to process BUT we get crashes on some dates.
We than have to work backwards by reducing the period; so far I have 08/05/05, 10/10/05, 02/01/06 and 27/02/06 that seem to be stumbling blocks. We then reset to a new start date 1 day after. i.e. 09/05/05.
I read SQL log size can cause this but the process works most of the time. Could it be a corrupt record somewhere on that date? Any pointers as to where to look as this really slows the process down!
