Run Workflow/Flow from Associated Records in UCI

Posted on 15 Jan 2020 17:26:22 by 5

We are currently doing a gap analysis between the web client and UCI and have discovered that the ability to run on demand workflows is not available in UCI. This is a significant void in functionality. Does anyone have a workaround for doing this? Has it been fixed and/or scheduled to be fixed to your knowledge?

Thanks

    @pringles Beginner user here.

    I use flows to raise important tasks when accounts or Opportunities meet specific criteria. Generally speaking, I only ever need the flow to run once per record to avoid a flow creating duplicate tasks. Is there an easy option inside flows to ensure a specific flow runs once per record?

    Instead of doing a lookup on the record to see if this task already exists to avoid the flow running multiple times on the same record? (I don't know how to do this)

    I need to have the ability to fire of a Flow/Workflow from the associated subgrid view, did you have any issues with adding a custom button to the Ribbon workbench?

    Hey. It seems that Flow is still unavailable in Associated views or entity form sub-grids. The forced transition deadline from the web interface to the UCI is quite near.

    I couldn't get the forceclassic to work either. The system would just revert back to forceuci. I ended up adding custom buttons to the subgrids using Ribbon Workbench and adding JS code to submit a webapi batch. Everything is working but it's just painful to reinvent the wheel.

    Hi Satish,

    If I add /forceclassic=1 to the end of a UCI URL, I get an error.

    Also - I presume this trick will not work once we make the mandatory transition?

    Right now, I think the only way to run a workflow on the associated records in the UCI, is to go into the associated entity in question, and filter on the relevant relationship.

    You can access organization in web client by using this URL - orgname.crm.dynamics.com/.../forceclassic=1.

    Note: You would need to replace orgname with correct value.

    Satish, when you say the users can use the web client to run workflows, how does a user get to the web client from UCI? I don't see anywhere on the subgrid/view that will take me to the older client. Thanks

    RE: Run Workflow/Flow from Associated Records in UCI

    Thanks for clarification, pringles. I would like to let you know that currently, it's a limitation in UCI wherein Run workflow/ Flow option is not available on associated views. Currently, Product team is working on it and in upcoming releases, this feature will added in UCI and meanwhile, as workaround - users can use web client to run workflows on associated view.
