Is it possible to create vendor groups in SL? I read the possibility exists in AX but have not found the capability in SL.

You can use the Vendor Class screen to define the groups you want, and then assign Vendors to those groups in the top right corner of the Vendor Maintenance screen.
If you wish to run reports on the Vendor Class ID field, it will require a little report customization, since, inexplicably, the basic Aging or Vendor T/B reports in AP do not include the ClassID field.
