Workflows are in progress mode since 2 days

Hi,

I ran the query in advanced find with status equal to locked in systemjob entity and found that many workflows are in progress mode since 2 days. I don't know why? it is a simple workflows and should not take more time.I tried to delete it but i'm getting error msg "The selected system job could not be deleted. Only completed system jobs can be deleted". can you help me figure out this issue?

    I can restart the Async service. But i would like to know the root cause of issue and need to fix it. thanks for response.

    All the steps were executed without any issue and stopped the workflow successfully. I don't  know why still showing as a "progress"

    if this is on premise restart the asynchronous services in the back end server

    Try paused/cancel the workflow?

    When you open the workflow, are you able to see if it stops at which step? Waiting for something to happen?
