MB-230 Dynamics-365-Customer-Service - Certification - Lab Exercises

HI

My MB‑230 certification expired in 2022, and I am planning to apply for it again. I have started going through the self‑paced learning modules; however, I am unable to find the link or steps to set up the hands‑on lab environment.

Could someone please help me with the steps and required details to create the lab environment? Additionally, will this work for users who have already completed these learning modules previously, considering that I am using the same email ID?

Thanks
Santosh

    Hi Santosh,

For the MB‑230 (Dynamics 365 Customer Service) certification, Microsoft currently does not provide a permanent or automatically created hands‑on lab environment directly from the self‑paced learning modules.

Here is how it works today:

    1. Hands‑on labs in Microsoft Learn

The self‑paced learning modules on Microsoft Learn focus mainly on concepts, product features, and guided exercises, but they do not include a built‑in sandbox or lab tenant that you can spin up automatically.

    2. How to create your own lab environment

To practice hands‑on, you’ll need to create your own Dynamics 365 environment

Option A – Trial Environment (Recommended)

    1. Sign up for a Dynamics 365 Customer Service trial using your Microsoft account:

      https://dynamics.microsoft.com/trial/

    2. Complete the trial setup (this creates a Dataverse environment).

    3. Enable the Customer Service app in the environment.

    4. Use this environment to practice case management, queues, routing, SLAs, etc.

Trial environments are usually available for 30 days and are ideal for exam preparation.

    Option B – Developer Plan

    • You can also use a Power Platform Developer Plan, but note that some Customer Service features may be limited compared to a full D365 trial.
    •

    3. Using the same email ID

Yes ✅ — using the same email ID is completely fine, even if:

    • You completed these learning modules in the past
    • Your MB‑230 certification expired in 2022

Your Microsoft Learn progress and certification history do not prevent you from:

    • Re‑taking learning modules
    • Creating a new trial environment
    • Registering and sitting for the MB‑230 exam again

Certification renewals or re‑certifications are handled independently from lab environments.

    4. Important note about certification status

Since your certification expired in 2022, you will need to:

    • Take the full MB‑230 exam again (renewals are only available for active certifications)
