We are currently evaluating the SL 6.5 product and have questions on tax functionality. Our company has a small (<20) blend of taxable and non-taxable products.
Has anyone been able to accomplish the taxation of products on a state-by-state basis without bolting on a tax-engine?

SL allows you to enter any complex combination of city county state taxes, but if you sell broadly to many locations, you won't want to set that up yourself. There is a 3rd party product whose name escapes me that adds all that in for you, and they send you periodic updates. That's what I would use.
