Why is a certain user tied to all audit changes even though they are not the owner of the record?

Posted on by 2,645

I had a user that made a change to an Opportunity record but in the audit history it shows that a different user made the change instead of them. I did verify that the other person that is showing in the audit history didn't make any changes to the record, so how is that possible that there name shows up still?

Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

    Hi,

You need to see the processes for this entity.

    • Advanced Settings -> Processes -> Activated Processes.
    • You can sort or filter processes by Entity.

For the Plugins you can use PluginRegisterationTool (in the SDK) or look in the Default solution:

    • Go to Advanced Settings -> Customization -> Customize this System.
    • From the left hand side choose, SDK Messaging Processing STep.
    • Filter by Primary Object Type (entity).

Is there a way I can see if this is happening by chance?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

It is possible that an underline process/plugin is updating the record. If the process is registered to run as a specific user, Audit will reflects the same user being used to execute the process.

Another possibility is that record is being updated programmatically (API), again the Audit will reflect the user being used to connect the APIs.
