Management Reporter report is incorrect after Account Category is changed in GP

Posted on by 285

We are running MR version 2.1.9001.11. We have a Balance Sheet created that used the Account Category dimension. We posted some transactions in GP. Afterward we change the Account Category of some of the accounts. When we run our report, the balances for those accounts are still showing in the old category on our report.

How can we update this?

We too are running 2.1.9001.11 and are having a similar issue.  We changed account categories on several GL accounts.  When we create the MR reports, some of the categories have numbers missing.  We have verified that the account is in the category on the row layout and has a balance in GP.  I have rebuilt the data mart 2 times.  I have exported the row layouts to a file and then deleted the row layout in MR and reimported into MR row definitions and we are still receiving the issue.  Since cu7 fixed the issue and we are on cu9, I would think that we would not see this issue.

Check if the accounts that had the account category changed all had the same main account. If that is the case, you could be running into the new issue. If you change the account category of an account with a different main account, that change should be reflected. It is a little difficult to describe. Basically, the issue is that the data mart only stores the main account and the first account category for it. Changes to other subaccounts under the same main account are not reflected.

I rebuilt the data mart and that did fix the issue. I will do some testing and let you know if the issue still occurs.

There are two possibilities here. The first is a known issue which was resolved with CU7. If you have not fully deleted and rebuilt the data mart database since upgrading, that is the first thing to do. I would actually recommend rebuilding the data mart either way for this issue. If the issue is corrected, I think we can attribute this to the pre-CU7 issue and can expect it to not occur again. If the issue does not get corrected with the rebuild, you may be running into another issue where the data mart does not store the full account values for the category changes, only the main account number. Let me know what happens after the rebuild and we will go from there.

We are not using AA (which is mostly what this article talks about).

The article does mention rebuilding the Data Mart but this is not a good solution. The end-user should NOT have to contact IT to rebuild the data mart just because they've changed an account category.
