Service Cost to be added in the Item Cost

Posted on by 10

Hi There,

We are using AX 2012 R3 and we do have some items that we need to send to a subcon supplier for item modification.

What module in AX we can use to set it up?

I will purchase a raw material from Supplier A, I will do PO receiving and I will send the goods to Supplier B. What will be the standard process in AX?

    Hi Marife,

There is documentation from Microsoft how to achieve subcontracting in Dynamics 365. You can see if the same procedure can be applied in your AX 2012 environment: docs.microsoft.com/.../subcontracting

    Hi Andre,

Yes, we wanted to track the sending and receiving of goods.

Ideally what we wanted is to set-up a item number that is for the raw materials and we are going to have a subcon set-up for that item where in we are going to linked it to the subcon supplier + the cost of the services from the subcon, then when we receive the goods from the Subcon supplier, we should be able to receive it under finished good part number.

    Ideal set up:

Raw Material PN + SubCon Cost = Finish Good PN

The subcon cost may vary based on customer order, hence it wont be a fixed service cost.

Thanks again! Hope we can find a work around solution on this so we can eliminate a lot of paper work.

    Thanks!

    Hi Marife,

Only with some workarounds, you can achieve this requirement. There are various options. This is based on your exact scenario. Can you answer the following questions?

    - Do you want to track sending and receiving the good to and from Supplier B?

    - Are the costs known in upfront or can they vary per order?

    - Is it part of another internal manufacturing process?
