After importing a new organisation based on a backup from a previous system all reports are now blank. but previous worked on old system, have tried:
1. reimporting rdl files one by one.
2. applying a solution exported from the previous system
3. restarted report server services
4. checked report server account was in AD report group in CRM OU
still nothing.

Yes it was pointing to another database, so installed VS2012 and the accompanying BIDS installs. Changed the datasource in the solution, saved and updated the report in the system. Still same issue sorry.
Please go to your deployment manager and enable default organization.
Just for test, download the report and check its datasource path and the if you have same fields name as that of the older system. If not then change the field name according in the query and made them according to new system.
Please check RDL file DataSources path .
Have you installed Dynamics CRM Reporting Extensions .Your report may be pointing to some other Database.
