RE: Business Admin VS System Admin

    Hi Kymsy,

System Administrator is a high-level security role. System Administrators have the authority to allow and remove access of other users and define the extent of their rights. For example, the System Administrator and the System Customizer are given access to custom entities by default while all other users need to be given access. This is the only Security Role that cannot be edited.

Business Administrator is not a Security Role in Dynamics 365.

Read this article for more information on Security Roles in Dynamics 365.

RE: Business Admin VS System Admin

    Hi,

In general, system admin are the CRM consultant who are involved in in maintaining your CRM system with new enhancement/ features etc whereas business admins are users of the CRM system having high privileges which is used perform other business administrative tasks like assigning security roles to users, managing their teams, maintaining the currency exchange rate administrative.

In short, consider system admin as the person which knowns about CRM as a system and business admin as the person who knows the business for which the CRM is implemented.

regarding your  questions, "o the Business admin got the right to create a new field inside MS 365", this is where the specisifc permissions comes into play. If you assign system admintrator/ system customizer role then the particular user will get the permissions to create the new field. I have worked with some clients where the business users are also crm technical so they perform both business admin & stystem admin task. It depends upon the personal, skills and of course the security privileges. :)

    Hope this helps.

RE: Business Admin VS System Admin

    Hi Kymsy,

    • Business Admin primarily manage your business settings, which is a user with higher privileges.

It is capable of performing the business management tasks shown below:

You can refer to this article: https://crmbook.powerobjects.com/system-administration/business-administration/

    • System Admin manages the system settings of D365, which is a security role with high authority, and have the right to modify the access rights of other users.

System Admin has the rights to Business Administration, Processes, Advanced Reporting Options, Mobile Options, Integrated Technologies, Office 365, SharePoint Document Management, Outlook App and Add-In Installation and Settings, Server Installation, Updates and Rollups, Data Migration and Integration.

You can refer to this article: https://crmbook.powerobjects.com/system-administration/

Regarding the second question, I agree with Ravi, depending on the security permissions you define for Business Admin.

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Lu Hao
