6.3.164.0 is R3 without any hotfix at all, therefore your application hasn't been upgraded yet. Changes in USR layer will be handled during the code upgrade phase (developers will have to resolve conflicts, if any).

    Hi Martin,

thanks for reply, I know application version is RTM, but can I export all customization(AOT) using a project from this and import into another CU10 server? what challenges will be there.

If you take customizations written for one version put them into another version without upgrade, anything can happen. Maybe it won't compile at all. Maybe it will compile, but your customizations will overlayer a part of a critical modification from Microsoft and will cause disastrous and unpredictable behavior. Who knows? Who wants to take the risk? And you will get from this risky operation?

It doesn't sound like a good plan...

I assume that your other server has CU10, which isn't the case of your current application.

    hi Martin,

so you are suggesting to upgrade current application or database.? and how I can upgrade it? I want to load it all on newly created CU10 server which is kernel and application version is CU10.

Of course, if you want CU10 application, you'll have to upgrade your RTM application to CU10.

High-level steps are explained in Cumulative Update 10 Installation Guide, page 12. You can find more information in Apply updates and hotfixes on Technet.

You're now saying that your application is CU10, but you said before that it's 6.3.164.0. Nevertheless even if you've already installed standard CU10 layers, you need to upgrade your customizations in USR layer.

If you moved your changes by .xpo's, you would have to upgrade them in target environment without automatic conflict detection and merging. Doing code upgrade properly is a much efficient way.
