Purchase amount posted to COGS Account

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello

Anomalies entry posted to the COGS Account.  This doesn’t happen frequently but when a purchase order is received and invoiced then an amount from the purchase line is posted to the COGS Account. I want to figure out what causes the system to behave this way and how do I correct the posted entry.

Please advise.

Most likely it is a setup issue: the COGS account in setup is used as the stock account. Check what are the settings for the items purchases - most likely it is one certain combination, so it appears occasionally when this certain setup takes place.

You can create a Item with Type = Service (on Item card)  and use it as Item on Purchase (Sales) Documents

Kindly check the posting setup and check whether COGS account selected to post the purchases .
