Modified Report throws Dictionary Not Loaded Error on Local machine.

I've created a new Modified Report on the MSGP server and works fine when tested on server.

but on a Local Machine it gives the Following error,

"cannot access this report because the dictionary containing it is not loaded"

Any idea why this might be happening?

Dictionary files are pointing to the correct location.

Hi Leslie

my modified templates are in a separate folder I didn't go changing their location.

Instead I copied all my dictionary files over to a new separate folder and had the client copies of GP point to that folder. Alas! it all works now.

Strange indeed.

Hi Sinnerv,

I just finished an update and encountered a similar issue. Everything was going fine, but one of my workstations did not 'see' the modified reports dictionary. I did all of the things recommended to you in this thread and none of them worked. When I logged into one of the errant machines and went to the Customization Maintenance window, none of the modified reports showed up.

What I ended up doing to get it to work was create a new folder to house the modified forms and reports and then simply copyied over the dictionaries. It's still a mystery to me why the problem existed, but everybody is working now, so I put it in the back of my mind to ponder later.

No it doesn't - the absolute key is that the dictionaries point to the same locations.

Interestingly, you see to have some things pointing to what appears to be a network share: //MS-GP/DYNAMICS/MODS/F309.DIC

While others are not.

I suggest you set this as your master network share: //MS-GP/DYNAMICS/MODS/

and you change every reports and forms dictionary line to point to it.

Copy what you believe the master dictionaries (probably the server ones) to that location - and keep them in sync. There is nothing worse than getting to an upgrade and not knowing where the "master" of all your dictionaries sits.

The thing I can't get my head around is, I've done similar changes before but I've not come across a problem like this.

does it make a difference If I make the change using System Admin Login and a Power User Login?

Tools->Customize->Customization Maintenance. Highlight the report in question and click export. Then on the workstation do the same thing only this time it will be import.

Server Version: :E:Dynamics/GP2013/REPORTS.DIC

Workstation Version: :c:Dynamics/GP2013/REPORTS.DIC

Two things to try:

1) Create a share on your server and put the reports.dic there and point both the server and workstation to that share

2) On server, export this report package out to a package and then import into the workstation

Somehow these two GP clients are not looking at the same file.

This is saying the launch files are not pointing the same location. Can you please attach the server version and the workstation version of DYNAMICS.SET?
