Workflow User Group based Configuration (Behavior with Completion Policy)

if we do configure workflow with UserGroup and we select Completion Policy as Single Approver, it will behave as "All Approvers".

In other words if I have 10 users in a UserGroup and I want if any of those 10 users which are in my UserGroup, if any of those users approves workflow, the step should be completed/approved.

Whereas system is behaving in a way that it is must to be approved by all those 10 users of UserGroup.

Am I correct in observation?

or there is any alternative to achieve the requirement.

    Hi Sohaib,

    I have not seen this before. When assigning multiple persons by use of a role participant it is working correctly (did this before multiple times).

    Did you changed this setup to be one approver after submitting to the workflow? Then it will use the old workflow version to complete.

    What exact AX 2012 version are you referring to?

    AX 2012 CU7  (6.2.1000.4051)

    What I am looking for:

    my workflow should be assigned to a UserGroup; if any of users in that UserGroup, approves the workflow, the process should end. It should not wait for approval of other users of that UserGroup.

    My Observation

    it is waiting for each user of UserGroup to approve, to complete the workflow.

    Further Notes:

    In case we use individual user Id's of users and we assign configuration policy to single approver, it works. But in our case we are not looking to go with option of assigning multiple users by user id. Instead we want to use UserGroup

    Hi Sohaib,

    As mentioned in my previous reply the role assignment worked (at least in AX 2012 CU3 and CU4)

    In stead of the user group assignment you can try to create a role (can be empty) and try to solve it with the user role assignment and single approver?

    Hi André ,

    I tested it with 'Security Role' and 'Single Approver' using AX 2012-CU7 and it got failed.

    I created a new dummy role.

    assigned this role to 4 users.

    in workflow configuration, made changes to accommodate it security role-wise approval

    Now as I submitted workflow, it created 4 'work item'

    after approving it by 1 user, it kept on waiting for other users to approve; unless approved by all users having that Security Role.

    The testing was performed on GL Journal workflow.

    I assume you again had applied to set the completion policy to 'single approver'?

    Hi Sohaib, in reply to your PM. This is very strange behaviour. Whether using a participant provider (role) or a manual selection of users AX sees the completion the same as both routes simply create a set of workitems.

    Have you tried re-creating your config from the beginning, perhaps something got corrupted in the background data.
