Charges Code - Order of operations

Posted on by 5

Hello,

I need to apply an admin fee of x percent on the header of a sales order. I found that the fee is based off of the sales total and does not include any additional fees associated with the order.

Does this have to do with the posting selection of the charge code? I would like the ADMIN fee to be applied after some other charges.

For example:

  1. Item Price
  2. Item Price + Handling Fee
  3. Item Price + Handling Fee * ADMF Fee

Currently the result I'm getting is

  1. Item Price * ADMF - Not including the Handling fee

Handling fee is also an auto charge.

    Hello bobu,

Why is it that you need a header charge?

I find header charges from accounting and findim posting issue.

Can't you make use of line charges or separate  (supplemantary or service) items that you include in the sales order?

Another thing to think about is the way how you calculate the admin fee.

From you calculation I can see that you put it on top of the item price and handling charges.

Doing that results in a situation where expensive products get a higher charge compared to cheaper products.

Is that really in line with your costing principles?

Shouldn't costs be allocated based on their 'originate source'?

I would consider this kind of admin charge allocation a bit dangerous as it can lead to wrong decision making.

Probably something to discuss with your team internally before continuing with this approach.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi bobu,

The functionality you described is working as expected. % option doesn't take into consideration other charges on the order header / line. If you need to do that, you would require extension to the system.
