I have a client who is experiencing intermittent lookups in RMS when tendering a sale.. We have run DBCC, indexed. We have maxed the RAM. It is happening less often. Now only about three times a week. It always happened upon tendering a sale. Any experience or ideas?

We re-start any 32b OS every night, 64b once a week.
You need to update RMS as .105 has serious pricing bugs in it.
You need to update SQL 2k5 to SP4 if running Vista or Win 7/8. You are running SP1. Better yet upgrading to SQL2k8 R2 Express will allow for a max database size of 10g whereas 2k5 and 2k8 are only 4g.
Ok you are version is without any service packs thus there will not be any tigger included in transaction entry. So it s not causing any issue for you. But it seems your database reaching for its maximum limit. SQL express 2005 having 4GB DB limitation.
can you perform data archiving or deletion(if data not required) to reduce the size.
There's A KB article provide by MS to delete old sales data if it is no longer required.
Try deleting unwanted Journals as well.
Shrink the database and re - index.
See if it works for you.

HI Bill,
There was a tigger added in transaction entry table. That starts when you press enter and often it can slow down until it get completes. . This was added with RMS update. I m not sure which version you are in now.
Let us know the version of RMS and whether you are using SQL express in store
Also how many items stored in your database and what is the database size?
This always happens when the user presses [enter]. It doesn't matter what tender type is used.
What happens within the system when enter is pressed here?
Jeff here is a note from one of the employees from last night.
The computer froze today on a cash purchase of $26.06. I pressed the tender button, chose cash and entered the cash amount given, and when I pressed enter it froze. I had to exit the POS system and re-enter it, and it has been working fine since. Also, I had to re-ring the items since the purchase was not in the journal.
the computer is still freezing up during credit card sales. After i restart the computer it tells me the computers need to be shut down at night. Would you like me to start shutting down the computer at night?
The lockups always happen during a tender.
Any Ideas?
For starters,
Make sure that Named Pipes is enabled and first in the Order in SQL Configuration.
Male sure that you have the database server machine has a static IP address.
Tryb off the HTML screen and the reference to it in SO Admin,
Assume you are running OPOS printer drivers, check them.or change to a Windows driver.
You didn't mention the exact version of RMS / the OS / the type and year of SQL and its version #
Is this always a credit card sale and they are using EDC?
