There is no limit in regards to ringing up items.
I agree with Neos.
Theoretically there isn't any limit. But you might run into problems if your total is above a million dollars or with high transaction with more than 1000 items.
The transaction gets stored in memory on the local cashier station until you go to tender or finilize the transaction. This is when it gets stored to the database.
So the RAM memory on the machine limits the transaction and the station hardware could also be causing a problem.
I have seen viruses on a station cause issues like the one you describe.
Could you tell us is the problem occuring while you are ringing up items or directly before tender or after tendering the transaction.
Could be because database is full and needs shrinking.
How long do you have this? Can you check database condition and capacity?
