Field Security profiles

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I would like to use field security profiles to allow a user to create a new form, and fill in the details.

After they have created it, on update, the user should not have access to read or update the fields as they are private info. Only an admin can read / update.

To do this, I have set field permissions to:
Read: No
Update: No
Create: Yes

But this means when the user creates a form, they are not able to see the values they are inputting as the they do not have read permissions.

Is there anyway to allow them to read the field details on create, and no longer after it has been saved, so they cannot update, using field security profiles, or will this require Javascript?

Thanks

    RE: Field Security profiles

    Hi,

You can create another field which is not a secured field and onchange of the secured  field set the same value to new  field . Depending on form type or in case of update  you can hide new field , this is what  you can do.

I believe we used to do this using Dialogs, but as these are being deprecated we are looking for a new method. What would be the best suggestion? Javascript?

    Thanks

    Hello ,

Unfortunately you can not , this is by design . When you set Read privilege = NO that means once record created you can not see the data which you provided. Once record created that means forms in Update mode.
