Route Operations

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

hi,

In my production route, each production order has 3 operations which has to be started one after another and for each and every operation system posts a route card journal and a picking list for raw materials and finally one report as finished journal is posted after the last operation to inventorise the finished goods.

I have two questions.

1. Is there any way to see the operation started quantities separately for each and every operation under one specific production order?

2. By mistake if a user started a wrong quantity in a specific operation, is there any way to reverse it and re-start with the correct quantity?

Appreciate your suggestions and comments.

Thanks

Okay so your master of the actual work is external to AX - I presume you are pushing something into the system - AX does not need to hold the started quantity if it is not being used, it will hold it against the production order as an order started quantity but not at operation level. It is used for the journals, if you dont create the journals then you either manually post them, integrate them (so start quantity not relevant in either) or backflush which is from the reported good quantity.

If you need the start quantity and you are starting by operation but recording no journals what does it matter? The data is in your external system - what is it holding? It in reality depends on that hand shake.

As for the reset, yes it is the entire order, that is your only option. You could start the operation again, but in the described scenario above you are getting nothing out of it!

    RE: Route Operations

Hi Steven, that's the issue. We do create route card journals and pick list journal, but not when the operation starts. In fact, these journals are posted by some other integrated piece of software after the physical operation took place.

Resetting the status is not going to help if they did the above mistake at the 2nd or last  operation as it'll reset everything of the previous operations as well, so we can't do that.

I believe the started values must be somewhere in the system.

    Any other suggestions please?

    RE: Route Operations

1 = The started quantities per operation will be in the route card journal or the pick list journal if you create either of these journals at start by operation.

2 = They can reset the status to released and this will undo the journals and they can do it again.
