"Indirect" Modify Permission to Assembly Header

Hi:

According to the "D365 TEAM MEMBER" Permission Set, Business Central's Team Member license provides "Indirect" Modify Permission to the Assembly Header.

Will this allow that Team Member the ability to enter and modify data within a text field in the header of an Assembly Order and, specifically, to that header's "Description 2" field?

Thanks!

John

Hi, As far as I know, there is no way to do that; it's a limitation of the license and has nothing to do with permissions.

    Thanks

    Hello,

You can give users access to an object only through another object. This is called giving Indirect permission.

For example, if you give Indirect Modify permission to a table, the user cannot modify that table directly. However, they can modify the table data through another object, such as a codeunit, that has the required permissions.

    Hello John,

Short answer: No, “Indirect Modify” won’t let the Team Member freely edit that field on the Assembly Order. In Business Central, Indirect means the user can only modify the record through a process (posting, system logic, code), not directly from the UI; so even if the permission set includes indirect modify on Assembly Header, the user typically can’t manually change fields like “Description 2” on the page, unless that change is triggered by some process or customization that runs with higher permissions.
