Test Data and ensuring data is safe for General Data Protection Regulations

Hi

I am new to NAV and interested in how data restored from production can be made safe for the General Data Protection Regulations with our testing environments.

Does the tool have inbuilt functions to allow data changes across specific fields?

Thanks

Kevin

    Kevin,

We normally build a processing report tool, which will take care of those scenarios, which will help to replace any sensitive data as per your requirement with dummy data.  You can run this tool as part of last setp in NAV whenever you restore DB.

    Hi Suresh

The new EU laws mean we cannot hold Personally Identifiable Information in test, so Name, Telephone, Email details, the address is okay, as long as not associated to a person who is 'Real', so we need to change all Names, Telephone numbers, Email addresses to be test versions. I hoped it was a tool based thing rather than coding :)

    Thanks

    Kevin

If you are restoring production data or DB to TEST DB regularly for testing or for refreshing the data, have a release procedure which will delete the sensitive data such as email address, credit card data..... So there is no built in tool but if you are using add-ons for credit card integration, they have some reports to clean up the data or archive the data when you have move DB

What kind of data you want to protect ?
