How to change these attributes associated with a business process

Posted on by 676

I am attaching a screenshot of a lead to opportunity business process. How can edit values of these attributes present in the right side of screenshot like Lead Source, Rating, Status and configure their change on a specific event.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hello Mohd

Based on your business process I would say yes, a CRM does sound like a good option in running your business more efficient. A CRM allows you to keep a record of your customers' details and any interaction so it makes everything well organized.

You may also want to look at the option of getting a CTI solution like Tenfold which integrates your existing phone and CRM. They also support MS Dynamics integration. Checkout these integrations at www.tenfold.com/integrations/dynamics

You need to go to lead relationships

Go to settings >> customisation >> customise the system >> entity>> leads>> 1:N relationships >> account originating lead>> double click and map fields between leads n account one by one

Please keep in mind that field type and length must be the same in both lead and account

    Hi Prashant,

Alright. So now my requirement is to let the user to enter few more details along with the company name, website, etc. Later when the lead qualifies and a customer account is created, I want these details to be entered for the account as well. What approach should I follow fore that?

    Yes that's the oob feature

That works via a plugin; you can look for it by going to settings>> customisation >> customise the system >> sdk messages and filter on lead entity

But you can't modify it, as it is system plugin

    Hi Prashant,

Thanks for your reply. I have noticed that when a lead is qualified, the details about company and contact are taken and turned to a new record of account and contact. How does that happen? Are there workflows running to complete these tasks, if yes where can I look for them?

    Hi Tahir

For Editing the Option set values

Go to settings>>customizations>>customize the system>>Entity>>Scroll down to lead>>Forms>>Lead Main form>>Click on header (On top ribbon)>>Double click 'Lead source'>>Details Tab and edit>>change values>>save and close the field and finally click on publish. Repeat it for other fields

keep in mind changing these values will affect your existing data

Configure change on a specific event

You can either use a workflow or business rule, depend on your requirements

    Business rule:Go to settings>>customizations>>customize the system>>Entity>>Scroll down to lead>>Business Rules community.dynamics.com/.../new-visual-designer-for-business-rules-in-dynamics-365

    Workflow: Go to settings>>processes>>click new>> type= workflow  crmbook.powerobjects.com/.../workflows
