    Hy,
    as I'm not a developer but I'm quite sure it could be done by x++ code.
     
    But the more modern approach is to have that kind of integration not within the core application code.
    Instead I would design such an integration using Azure integration tools and services.
    E.g. using an local data gateway to get access to the local IP and folders from e.g a Logic App that picks up the files and integrates the data to the F&O entities.
     
    But for a sustainable design of such integration we would need to know more about the scenario as volume of data, frequency of data update, data entities, any real time requierments, security, logging of integration, ...

    First of all, think about which protocol you can use to access the files. You can't design any solution without it.
     
    Then find out whether the client is willing to expose the data to the internet (which a potential security issue) or you'll need to use something like a reverse proxy. Then we can start talking about a technical design; it can't be done with any basic information.
