Has there been any updates to DRA for D365? This seems like something Microsoft should resolve?

    DRA for D365
I appreciate the responses. I'm looking for the best solution for D365 on-prem printing. DRA seems to be to be convoluted than it should be, but there isn't a lot of information out there on how to set DRA up for multi-site, multi-printer architectures.

    DRA for D365
    Hi CT-16051837-0,

Would all my users require an F&O license to print through DRA?  I have users who are only licensed with Operations licenses who would not print financial statements, reports, checks, etc..
A] The answer is no. As Jonas rightly mentioned, you don't need additional operational licenses for printing financial statements, reports, checks etc.
If you are currently using the DRA client then recommend you have a dedicated service account and have the Document routing client role along with System user assigned to this service account.
Alternative option is to run the DRA,as a windows service with the same dedicated service account.

As Jonas rightly mentioned, one DRA agent can't handle printers/copiers requests. Consider, running the DRA as a windows service if the number of printers/copiers is spread across multiple sites or even if it is a single site. Have dedicated printers/copiers to perform the required tasks for printing financial statements, reports etc with a dedicated service account.

Would I be able to add Universal Printing for those users to reduce the amount of DRA agents/servers needed? Hopefully, this makes sense?
A] For one instance of D365 F&O you can only have one DRA agent and a server hosting the DRA agent. Lasernet, in this case has the ability to handle universal printing plus there are some standard reports that you can test using Lasernet.

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.

No additional licenses; All the DRA does is take documents/labels printed by users in F&O and sends it to the print spooler on server that hosts the DRA.
I.e. users are already licensed if they can trigger the report.

Last time I looked at it, DRA did not support follow-me /universal printing, and as I recall it's due to the architecture of how printing works in F&O.
If you need follow-me/universal printing, you need to investigate a third-party output management solution like Docentric or Laseret.

And it makes perfect sense 👍

If you have 660 then one DRA is not enough, 50 printers MAX per agent. Here Microsoft recommends to perform load testing
All customers should have at least two different servers with a DRA installed at minimum for high availability...

Notice that a printer should not be covered by more than 3 agents, otherwise it will be a mess...

In terms of performance I haven't really had any issues. It's not doing much processing, just sending PDF's of ZPL to a print spooler.

Are you able to install the DRA's locally? I assume you have multiple sites.

The issue I am trying to solve is DRA is a single-threaded print function.  It's one print server for every one printer/copier, unless I am looking at this wrong. I have 650 printers/copiers in the organization, which DRA is not a sustainable option if this is the case?

    Hi CT16051837-0,

Document routing agent is updated with every version of Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management.

It comes packaged with every release of D365 F&SCM. Functionality wise haven't seen anything in Document routing agent (DRA) since version 10.0.25.

For any version discrepancies, you will get a message on the top section of the document routing agent above the menu. Better to consider DRA as a part of the upgrade process considering the document routing agent version discrepancies etc.

In that case, you can download the deployable package for latest version (10.0.44 or PU68) and then check the build number of DRA and compare it with the already installed version of Document routing agent.
