GP setup and report server URL not valid error

Posted on by 40

I'm in the process of setting up GP and I need to enter the report server URL. Based on the sql server 2005 setup the report server URL should be:

http://servername/reportserver$InstanceName
When I enter the above in IE on the server that has the Sql server instance, the web-page displays the report server URL and report server version number.

However, when I enter the above URL in GP, it returns an error stating:
The Report Server URL entered is not valid
Following is the URL for the reports manager, which GP accepts:
http://servername/reports$InstanceName
Does anyone know what is or could be wrong with the report server URL and how to fix the issue(s)?

Thanks.

Check the service pack of the SSRS reports you are installing. I recall having those errors and the service packs fixed them.

You should be using SP4 of these SSRS reports.

    Also:

If you are on SQL Server 2005, the URL should behttp://ServerName:PortNumber/reportserver/reportservice.asmx. However, ifyour server happens to be a SQL Server 2008 server, the URL should behttp://ServerName:PortNumber/reportserver/reportservice2005.asmx

Re: GP setup and report server URL not valid error

Thanks for directing me to Chapter 30 of the user guide; it was very helpful. After following the instructions, I was able to deploy the default reports to the report server. Unfortunately, however, when I try to view any report in IE I get the following error:

rsProcessingAborted Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: '157' Key being added: '157'

(The number '157' changes depending on which report I click on)

Any ideas on what's the problem and how to solve it? Thanks.

The user guide does a good job of providing the url you need to enter on this page. The document is SystemSetup.pdf (System Setup Guide) and the chapter is 30.
