USD tab allow multiple pages

Posted on by 517

If I allow a USD tab to host multiple pages (say, up to 5 CRM contacts), is there a way to cycle through the open contacts and find one if I have its GUID (or any other criteria really)?

Related question: Should replacement parameters reflect the data of the current active record in this tab?  In my tests, it looks like replacement parameters only have data for the most-recently-opened record in the tab.

If you are talking about restricting users not to open the same contact multiple times, probably you can follow this post, where it is talking about cases - in your case, it should be contact.

Thanks Neil.  I came to the same conclusion, that USD doesn't provide any looping mechanisms for multiple-page tabs.

In my particular scenario, I may be able to ScanDataParameters, perform logic on current record, CloseActive, and then loop back to ScanDataParameters again to perform that logic again for the next record, etc.  I'll let you know what happens...

Unfortunately, you are correct your replacement parameters always contain the details for just the last record loaded on multiple tabs.

Also, there is not really a concept of loops in the USD configuration. Meaning there isn't a construct available to us to loop thru the details loaded in multiple tabs.

If you look in the debugger you should notice that as you swap from tab to tab no event is triggered in USD. So we have nothing to hang any actions off.

Unfortunately ... what you describe here are the features / limitations of the multi-tab concept.
