Shopify and Business Central - Shopify Led Fulfillment

I have a customer using shopify that wants to start integrating with Business Central to manage their inventory.  However they want to continue to fulfil orders from Shopify (and update Business Central as fulfilled) rather than fulfilling orders directly from Business Central. The Microsoft guidance doesn't seem to show this as an option - does anyone know if it is possible?

Also in terms of items/products, these are currently all set up in Shopify but they will want to move to managing them from Business Central. Is it possible to set up the connection initially to be Shopify to Business Central with auto create unknown items switched on to essentially "migrate" the item list from Shopify, and then once that is done, switch the connection to Business Central to Shopify?
I have the same question (0)

As far as I know, the standard can't do it; you could consider customization. But that seems a bit complicated.

    Extend the Shopify Connector

    Hi,

Though I have not tried it with practical cases, Microsoft does allow already fulfilled order in shopify to sync in BC as Sales Invoices directly. There is a Boolean on Order Sync tab called Create Fulfilled Order as Invoices. Read it here - Synchronize and fulfill sales orders - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

Regarding Items sync, Shops does have option to sync Item "From Shopify". Read it here - Synchronize items and inventory - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

    Regards,

    Hi, Hope this help

Fulfillment: There's a setting on the Order Sync tab called "Create Fulfilled Orders as Invoices", this lets orders fulfilled in Shopify sync into BC as Sales Invoices directly, so no need to fulfill from BC at all.  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/shopify/synchronize-orders#create-sales-documents-in-business-central

Item Migration: Completely doable, set Item Sync to "From Shopify" with Auto Create Unknown Items on to pull everything into BC first, then flip the direction to BC → Shopify once your item list is clean. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/shopify/synchronize-items#define-item-synchronizations

    Hello ,

Yes, it’s doable as long as you still import the Shopify orders into BC (so BC has a Shopify Order / Sales document to “hang” the status on): let the warehouse fulfill in Shopify, then run/schedule “Sync Order(s) from Shopify” so BC pulls down the latest fulfillment/partial-fulfillment info (Microsoft even notes you should run it to update fulfillment status in BC). For the product master, your migration idea is also fine: start with Sync Item = From Shopify and Auto Create Unknown Items ON (plus an Item Template Code) to bulk-create items/variants in BC from Shopify, then once your BC item list is cleaned up and becomes the source of truth, switch to Sync Item = To Shopify to push future item changes outward.

You can address this requirement by configuring an Order Downloading job queue.

Set up a job query to trigger order downloads when the fulfillment status is Fulfilled or Partially Fulfilled. This process will automatically create a Sales Invoice.

If further automation is required, you can configure an additional job queue to automatically post the Sales Invoice in Business Central (BC) once it is created.

This approach has been successfully implemented for a client and is working as expected.
