Set up video for help

Posted on by 5

Hello ,
I am looking for another solution to set up the playback of a video in Dynamics.
I have already tried the following solution that works well:

axcompendium.wordpress.com/.../

Would you have another solution to offer me.

Regards,

    Ah, sorry, you are still working with ActiveX. I don't have any inputs on that area.

    But this line of code should open an URL with the default browser:

    infolog.urlLookup('http://www.google.com');

    The command "activeX.Navigate (" www.google.fr "); uses IE Even if Firefox is the default browser, when opening the form I want firefox to open in the form and not to share it.

    The browser is selected by your operating system, not AX. The operating systems uses the default browser that is set up. So, change the default browser to Firefox and it will open all URLs with Firefox.

    Another (worse) option is to not have only the URL in the link in the form, instead call Firefox.exe and give the URL as a parameter. This option would fail on all computers where Firefox is not installed. (Google "Firefox open url command line" to learn more).

    Can we tell Dynamics to use the Firefox browser to open web pages in forms?

    Thanks for your help.

    In order to get better quality on my TSE session.

    I integrated my video into an HTML page, which is embedded in my help form.

    ActiveX: Microsoft Web Browser

    Method: name of my activeX.Navigate ("Address of my HTML page");

    Like Martin suggested, you can just store the link to the video in AX, and when the user opens it, it can be played in VLC or any player that the user has associated with that media type.

    The videos go tutorial service or help to the user.

    Sure, you can have a link pointing to a file (and using VLC, for instance, as your default video player) or to a web site.

    Or is there any strong business reason for embedding video inside a form in your ERP system?

    Users use Dynamics in TSE on a 2008 R2 server. But the quality of the video is not good. I wanted to know if there was another way to open a video, either with VLC or something else.

    Why do you need another solution if the one in that blog post works well? Could you explain a bit why you need another solution?
