Create custom field in Account with uppercase API name

Posted on by 8
Dear Community members,
I need to create a custom field in Account which API name starting with Uppercase meant for an integration with another platform. However, it seems that this is a product configuration limitation. Would you kindly advise if there is any workaround to solve this issue? Case scenario as per below:
Custom field label: Tenant_ABC
Custom field API: Tenant_abc . However by default it's only possible to create the field as tenant_abc (all lowercase). I need the first T to be uppercase as this is a requirement from the other platform to be connected to

Is there any possible workaround or solution?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,
Ana

    Hi,
We can configure the publisher prefix, but the letters don't end up showing up in uppercase.
Once the cursor leaves the 'Prefix' attribute, it will automatically change to lowercase

    Hi @Leah Ju,
Thank you for your prompt reply
Apologies for the trouble but I would appreciate your further help since I'm not very familiar with Dynamics behavior/configuration:

    1) Is the prefix attribute of the publisher configurable? i.e. if we can set it up with the first letter being uppercase, in your example "New" instead of "new"
    2) If the above is achievable, does it mean that the same format will apply for all custom entities and fields? that is, all will start with uppercase

Thanks once again for your help and kind regards,
    Ana

     Hi,

Yes, as you said, custom prefixes are always lowercase.

I'm not sure how your external platform is utilizing the logical name of the field.
If it's a query that requires initial capitalization, then it may be necessary to pre-fetch all the attributes of the account entity to convert the first letter to uppercase.

    Best Regards,
    Dengliang Li

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, we can't achieve it.
This field prefix is determined by the value of the prefix attribute of the publisher.
When we set prefix in one publisher record, it can be changed to lowercase automatically.
