eConnect - Employee Update

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I am trying to use E-Connect 10 to update Employee Information in Microsoft Dynamics GP 10. I was able to use Serialization to build <taCreateEmployee> node. I also got it to update GP Employee record as expected.

Now, my problem is I am not sure how to update only some fields with this approach.

Is there a way where I can just update these 3 fields : PayrollStatus, EmploymentType and JobCode  and leave the other information on <taCreateEmployee> untouched using E-Connect. Please bear with me as I am a newbie to E-Connect.

I did use UpdateIfExists=1

Thanks again for your help.

    Sandip,

I did ask them that and they said that it is not a problem on all the cards like vendor, customer etc.., but only applies to employee related cards. We have closed the incident, since then.

    Thanks,

    Harini

    Hello Sandip,

I opened up a support incident with Microsoft and this is what they said:

"With the employee node we will blank out fields if you do not pass the values back in. So they will have the option to go out in the Pre Procedure to get the data and set the values to the input parameters or they can set the values in their document when they pass the data back in."

I believe this only applies to Employee related tables. I hope this helps somebody.

I found same thing !!! Thats very strange. for quick solution better you used Integration Manager to update your employee.

We need to test eConnect for updating all masters. I found same in SOP - Orders, for workaround I deleted existing order and integrated again.

    Thanks

    Thanks for replying.

I did use UPDATEIFEXISTS node and passed in just the Required fields and the 3 fields that I wanted to update as nodes to the <taCreateEmployee> schema. This updates the passed in fields(required fields and the 3 fields that I want) on the Employee Record fine, but the problem is the remaining fields are completely wiped out or are made blank.

I don't want the other fields on the Employee records to be blanked out, I want them to stay as they were before. I am not sure why it is blanking out other fields.

    Any ideas??
