GP utilities configuration

Posted on by 30

Hello,

I'm working on a deployment for Dynamics GP 2016, and i'm just curious if there is a way to script the GP utilities setup.

I want to make it so the end users can just simply open GP and sign into the software.

Is this possible? I would prefer not to rely on them for the setup, or to remote to every machine myself and do it.

Thank you!

    RE: GP utilities configuration

I can't speak to scripting the GP utilities setup but we do have a process in place where we complete all installs - some clients have automated this when there are multiple add-ins - and then launch GP Utilities to synchronize the dictionaries.  Then this workstation's synchronized local folder is copied to a shared location.  When new installs are completed, on a new workstation IT replaces the new local folder with the one copied down from the server.

This process works very well when all installs are consistent and add-in products play well with this (a few don't).  (Note:  We did not usually install to default locations.)
