We were looking at starting to use the Purchase tax and use-tax function to help us track use-tax. We currently track use-tax manually. We use the unrealized tax option and while using the unrealized tax option, Sales tax is working properly by debiting the unrealized sales tax account and crediting the realized sales tax account when our sales invoices get paid (last, fully paid option). But when setting up for purchases, it doesn't function right. When we create a purchase invoice and post it, the unrealized tax account is credited properly and nothing happens to the realized tax account which is proper. The problem happens when we pay the purchase invoice. Both the unrealized account and realized account remain the same on the net change column and balance column. They do get entries after posting a payment, but they are both getting a debit and a credit entry after posting payment, like an in and out instead of moving the tax liability from the unrealized account to the realized account. The sales tax from sales docs behaves properly by moving the liability from the unrealized account to the realized account with just the single entry to each after posting a payment. I have created this in a copy of our production company and in the Cronus company.
