items used for R&D purpose

hi there,

We use small portion of existing RM/FP for R&D purpose. (amount varies each time)

What is the best practice for deducting stock level when items used for R&D purpose?

We like achieve following cost adjustment at same time,

- DR to R&D Expenses G/L account

- CR to Inventory G/L account

    Create a specific general product posting group and use it when posting for that circumstance. An item journal will give you the most control here but other ways can be used

    Thanks a lot Josh. created gen prod posting group and posted negative adjustment via item journal. Stock reduced as expected but there is no change on G/L account. went to find entries and found 4 G/L entries like

    7171 (created for R&D expenses): -10

    7171 (created for R&D expenses): 10

    2120: 10

    2120: -10

    They are cancelling each other and makes no change on G/L accounts. 

    can you please let me know what settings I'm missing?

    Hi

    We have a customer named R&D with needed setup. Anytime we want to consume materials for R&D we pretended we sold it to that customer (with $0 sales price) and we have all needed transaction.
