Since one or two weeks we are no longer able to import data in het field 'Inventory posting group'.

We can add this information manual but not from Customer Engagement trough our app. What will this app do, Then we create a product in CE and we save this, the app will create the item in BC.
We send a few fields like the product posting group, vat product posting group and the inventory posting group. Since one or two weeks we get a error, because the field Inventory posting group is read-only.

We are on Business Central version 17.0.16993.0 Localisation NL. Do anyone know this problem or know that this is a problem of a last update and will be fixed?
It is one of the field you need to fill in when you create an item, so in a word where we combine solutions ist logisch we can use this field

    Hello,

Is there a specific error message and what has been changed since these two weeks? Did you upgrade the system from a previous release?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

In CRONUS I did export Items table via Edit in Excel and created and published a new Item with a new Inventory Posting Group that I created via Edit in Excel a bit earlier.

The only error I did receive is the readonly field % Profit. After clearing that field because it is calculated, the publication did work fine.

    Details:

A row update in data set Item_Card was not published. Error message: 'Control 'Profit %' is read-only.  CorrelationId:  89bb5391-2d9f-4ba9-9ae1-da5950f0adfb.'

Is the field you did mention read only or is it calculated somehow? Does this scenario happen in an unmodified CRONUS company. It is good you are able to reproduct this with Edit in Excel so the repro is more easy to establish without looking at apps and CE.

    Thanks.

Even my integration has started to fail on items level.

When I insert a new item via odata api, I am also getting the same error .

Control 'Inventory Posting Group' is read-only.  CorrelationId:  2f443f2b-4b9e-4fe9-be38-f6fd924fc6c9.

    Hi Marco,

I also noticed that the same problem has appeared on the "Unit_Cost" control (marked as read-only).

I wasn't sure if you were only looking at the Inventory Posting Group or if it's a general issue, so I thought I'd mention it.

    Thank you,

    Stephane

    Hello,

Just to update you all. Today I had a small Teams session with the owner of your support request and we can confirm that in BC160 this field can be updated successfully and in BC170 there is the Read Only message. For our tests we verified this in BC160 OnPrem and BC170 OnPrem / BC170 SaaS.

That said, we will raise an internal ticket to the product group for clarification what did change in that arena.

A workaround for now is that you can create the Item without Inventory Posting Group via Edit in Excel, perform a refresh in Excel and then the value Inventory Posting Group can be set via publication again.  That is probably not a good workaround when you get it via API from CE, etc. But at least that is a confirmed behavior.

    Thanks.

PS: I will let the owner of the support request know about the other field, I did not look at that one as I did only looking at Inventory Posting Group, but I trust that this will behave the same as you did test that already.

    Thanks Marco,

I am expecting Product group will change the behaviour atleast on API.

Two calls need to be made one for insert and one for update because of this change.

Is there a way to version out API so who every wants to use old behaviour they can keep doing so ?
