Upgrade from GP 10 to GP 2010 fails

Posted on by 830

Currently we are using GP 10.  We performed all of the preliminary steps outline in the upgrade guide.

I installed GP 2010 successfully.

However when I start the GPUtility process I get the following errors in the duinstall.log:

You are welcome Bob. This is why we make the BIG bucks(yeah right). Actually being chief, cook and bottle washer for the past 29 years running my own GP consulting business has been a challenge. Looking forward to the next 29 years. Hopefully GP hangs around for a  bit longer.

Ok, I found the problem.  It was related to the Licenses.  I added licenses and the screens returned to normal.

Your direction for me to grant access to the users put me in the right area to add the licenses.

    Thank you.

Please send me a screenshot of what you are lookng at. I am not aware of any GP screen that shows this. I think we are on different wavelengths with this.

    Thanks.

In GP 10 when I logged in, it showed I had 2 licenses and 0 in use

In GP 2010 When I log in it shows I have 1 license and 0 in use

Re: Upgrade from GP 10 to GP 2010 fails

Step 1) Are you loggin in as 'sa'?  Log in as 'sa' first and grant access to users.

Step 2) What do you mean it only shows you one license? GP is not licensed by company. The one license you have covers all of your companies. Do you mean you only see one company in the drop lsit for companies?

Re: Upgrade from GP 10 to GP 2010 fails

When I log into GP2010 on the server.  It does not allow me to select a company.  When I login from a workstation it does allow me to select a company but it only shows one license we have two.

Both display "The System Manager module is not registered. No other modules can be marked as registered"

Any idea why I'm experiencing these problems?

The share is on the Accounting folder not the individual folders. Now as far as the personalized forms and reports that is up to you. As I said, maintenance becomes any issue. You would need to know who has the msot recent version of the reports if two or more users use the same report.
