how to set up test GP environment

I see useful information on moving the GP databases but what about the client?

What I need to do is set up an environment in 10 to test the upgrade to 11. I see instructions about migrating the database to the new environment. Are there any instructions on how to pick up an estabished client installation and drop it somewhere new?

Probably the easiest way is to install GP 10 on the test workstation, then copy the contents of your live workstation GP folder andpaste it over whatyou have just installed. You may need to change the Dynamics.set file to suit new paths etc - nd you will need to set up and ODBC.

However, why do you want to test the old application? To test the upgrade, you just need to install version 11 and open utilities - connect to the test database and let it do its thing.

This is exactly wha you would be doing for the live. The applicaion folder does not get upgraded - you install from scratch.

If you have modifed forms an reports - these will need to be upgraded (remember some reports just won't upgrade - check the upgrade documentation for advice). To upgrade forms and reports, point to them in your dynmics.set file for version 11 and launch GP - it will recognise that there are resources to upgrade, and will do the rest.
