Newly open window client have connection problem while previously connected clients are still working

Posted on by 70

Hi,

I am use NAV version: 2013 R2 W1 (7.1.35866.0)

Strange thing happened to my NAV server.

Normally all users uses window client with no problem, but after a while, all user will suddenly not able to connect (typical error msg "the program could not create a connection to the server"), but the strange thing is, the users that are already connected and have the window client opened before the problem appear can still using the opened client without problem.

So the case is after a time point, newly opened client cannot connect but the already opened clients are working fine.

Checked the NAV server is running, there are no event in the event log, and checked the concurrent user count is well below limit, all clients can ping to NAV server and access internet without problem.

Restarting the NAV service will allow all users to connect again, but after a while (sometimes it's months, sometimes it's minutes) the same thing happen again.

Does anyone know what causes this problem? or have any idea to trace what it happens?

Osty

    hi,

check if the nav & db servers runs out of memory.

check, if the database is full (data file and transaction log).

I'm facing a similar issue myself in a specific case. I still don't quite know why. Is your server on premise (in the same LAN?)?  Is it on the cloud?

The difference is the users in my case are always able to reconnect immediately after the connection has been "lost".

I hope someone can shed some light on the matter :-)
