Missing GP Web Services Definition

Posted on by 1,797

I'm attempting to locate the GP web services directory at the following path on our server but have been unable to find it.

http://<WebServerName>/DynamicsGPWebServices/DynamicsGPService.asmx

We have Business Portal 4 running on WSS.  A search of the web server for the file DynamicsGPService.asmx returns no results.  Does the standard Business Portal installation include all of the GP web services and their directory list or is there an additional install that needs to be done to install/expose the GP web services through the web server?

    Devin,

The web services install is on CD 2 of the GP 10 release.  You can call 1-800-456-0025 to request one if needed.  The web services install is posted for the feature pack release on customer and partner source here:

    CustomerSource:  https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/downloads/servicepacks/mdgp10_featurepackreleasedownload_eng.htm?printpage=false

    PartnerSource:  https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/downloads/releases/mdgp10_featurepackreleasedownload_eng.htm?printpage=false

I don't know of any major issues when upgrading from WSS to MOSS.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Rob,

Yes, we're currently running it on WSS in our development environment, though we may go to MOSS later on. Are there licensing issues involved with installing web services on WSS?  Is it difficult to upgrade from WSS to MOSS at a later time?

I'm in the process of locating the web services installation file (DynamicsGPWebServices.msi) but it's proving to be illusive.  I'm only finding the SDK files.  Any ideas where I might be able to download it?

    Thanks,

    Devin

    Devin,

Thanks for using the newsgroups.  To get the Dynamics GP web services, they must be installed separately.  The install should be located on your GP 10 media.

BP 4.0 can be installed on WSS without web services, but BP 4.0 in a MOSS environment requires web services.  Are you running in a WSS environment?

    Thanks

    Rob
