Hi all,
Here is the Inventory Movement journal.  The Approval is dragged to Yes and the WF is attached.

The WF is active.

Why is the Workflow button at the Action Pane is greyed out? Am I missing something?

    Hi @CU22041415-0

Could you please create a new record and check whether workflow has been enabled.

I hope you have all the required access as well.

    Thanks,
    Subra

    Hey,

There could be multiple causes of it, so lets go through them.

    • Lacking user rights - are you trying this with SysAdmin?
    • Are the lines in the journal fine, or do they lack some information?
    • The association is "usF", is the journal also in the same company?
    • Is the workflow in general fine? Could you please open the workflow designer and check if any error messages appear?

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi,

I checked this in my sandbox environment, and it is working as expected.

Could you please verify whether the customization is applied? Based on the condition, the button should either be visible or hidden. Please do the debug,

From your screenshots, I notice the Workflow field on the journal name has a red warning border around WFL000013. That usually means D365FO sees the selected workflow as invalid for that journal/company, even though the workflow version itself is active.

    Try this:

    1. Go to Inventory management > Setup > Inventory management workflows.
    2. Select workflow WFL000013.
    3. Click Set as default if it is not already default.
    4. Go back to Inventory management > Setup > Journal names > Inventory.
    5. Open journal name
    6. Turn Approval workflow = No, save, then turn it back to Yes.
    7. Re-select workflow WFL000013, save, and make sure the red warning disappears.
    8. Create a new movement journal using this journal name. Existing draft journals sometimes do not refresh workflow activation correctly after setup changes.
    9. Open the new journal and check whether Workflow > Submit is now enabled.

Also check security: the user must have rights to submit inventory movement workflows. If setup is correct but the button is still inactive, test with a System admin user. If it works for admin, assign the needed workflow/security privileges to the business user.

Fix the red warning on the workflow field first, set the workflow as default for the correct company, then create a new journal and test submission.

    Thanks,
If you found it helpful, please consider marking it as Verified — it may be useful for others in the future!

    Hello,

The configuration is correct. You probably don't have the privilege or duty in your environment.

Please check if your role has the privilege "Maintain movement journals" or duty "Approve movement journal".

    Thank you,
    Giorgio
