So I assume you have a ticket opened? Can you give a reference so we all know the resolution, pls?
Thanks Zucko_mac for the response. We have found a workaround, if you recreate the role, it seems to disappear. You can test with one user who reported the issue, just create the copy of their existing role and assign it to them.

Having the same issue, users have different security roles, moreover, all were able to Qualify before today! All the security roles have Create, Read, Write, Append, Append to on Account, Member, Opportunity and Lead, as well as on Connection Entity. Is it possible that the issue has other than security reason?
Also worth keeping in mind the privileges around Connection and Connection Role as the user needs access to create connections and append/append to Connection Roles (due to the contact that gets created by qualifying the lead becoming a stakeholder on the Opportunity).

this error occurs when there is a privilege issue.
Please check user role to understand which entity you could not update or create (lead, account, contact or opportunity).
