Management Reporter Data Mart Integration Logging in to "Disabled" Companies

Posted on by 570

In 2013, I posted a Connect "suggestion" to allow the companies integrated by Management reporter's data mart to be specified so that test companies could be excluded.

https://connect.microsoft.com/dynamicssuggestions/feedback/details/810554/dont-integrate-companies-into-the-data-mart-that-are-not-configured-in-management-reporter

Another similar request was also entered by another user:

https://connect.microsoft.com/dynamicssuggestions/feedback/details/796340/add-ability-to-select-deselect-legal-entities-to-integrate-to-the-data-mart

I thought this feature had been delivered in CU10 as there was a specific blog post about it.

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dynamics_financial_reporting/archive/2014/10/03/company-selection-for-microsoft-dynamics-gp-cu10-feature.aspx

The main reason I wanted the feature is because we have some test companies and the data mart integration was interfering with them.  We recently upgraded from CU8 to CU12 and I configured only the production companies in the integration.  Then I checked the SQL Server Activity Monitor and found that MR was still logged in to all GP databases.  It's so disappointing to see MR still messing around with companies supposedly excluded from processing.

    Mahmoud,

That's good news that the problem is fixed when paired with GP 2015.  I still do hope that Microsoft fixes it for the rest of us on older releases.

    Hello again Marc,

So far, I have encountered no such issues with MR and GP 2015. The only issue which is encountered quite often is having missing values in the report with the data mart deployment.

    Mahmoud,

I have seen that post, but have not personally tested with GP2015.  My expectation is that it only moves the UI out of the MR configuration console into GP, and that the integration code would still ignore the settings like it does now.  But, I guess it is possible that those new settings might actually be honored.

I have encountered such case, upgrading to Dynamics GP 2015 will give you ultimate control over which companies to be integrated to Management Reporter.  Have you seen this Management Reporter Data Mart integration with Dynamics GP 2015 | Company Integration

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,

Have to say I agree with you on this one.  I see no reason for MR to attached to databases not selected by the configuration tools.  In so many other cases we are not allowed an option - where one would be warranted - here an option is provided, configured and then ignored.

Thanks for the reminder on this Marc.
